Fundão's Council Member for Tourism

Fundão is the county in which the ratio diversity/quality is most obvious in the entire Beira Interior region, at the level of the agro alimentary and tourism sectors.
Around ten years ago, the municipality of Fundão assumed as a strategy of affirmation and development of its local economy, the uncompromising defence of its territory and its endogenous products, based on the perception and analysis of the council's potential. The strategy included the creation of a set of anchor events associated with local products/themes, whether in the city, or in its surrounding villages, a yearly agenda already seen as fundamental to the region. For example: the Cherry Festival, the Cheese Festival, Rattles - Festival of the Transhumance's Paths, Míscaros – Mushroom Festival, among others, that over the 365 days, following the seasons, will entertain and act as showcase, to a wide audience, of those who are our products and producers.

Tradition is visible in the know-how of the people of the county. The yellow cheese of Beira Baixa DOP, the wine, the olive oil, the sausages, the deserts. Not forgetting, also, the "filhós", the sweet cake, the "miaus" ... a wide and diversified range of products on display, typical of the "beirã" region.
Combining tradition to innovation, Fundão developed new products that would clearly enhance the ex-libris of the municipality – the cherry – like the cherry custard pie, the cherry chocolate, with the signature of chef António Melgão, among other products that you'll want to discover.

Fundão, 365 days to discover - we challenge you to explore and taste the best that our county has to offer. Welcome to Fundão!
