Inês de Castro Foundation

Ines de Castro Foundation formally established on 7 th of January 2005, day when we celebrate 650 years after his death, is aimed at the research and dissemination of the history, culture and art on the theme Inesiana, the promotion and support of cultural studies and activities focused on Inês de Castro, its time or epochs closer to this myth and provide for the emergence of new cultural values.

The Foundation has its headquarters in the Quinta das Lágrimas facilities, in Coimbra, a place that history and the memories associated Ines de Castro and the drama lived by it. The Company Quinta das Lágrimas, owner of the land and Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas, donated to the Foundation, in Lending scheme, the land where integrate the historical sites, gardens, slope and kills, and which are part of their heritage.

Are part of the General Council of the Portuguese characters embossed Foundation in the areas of History, Arts and Literature, Environment and Landscape, Policy and also Presidents and Cultural Foundations members, besides the members of the Company and persons related to the family of previous owners
